The ACT Test Format is divided into 4 sections namely,
English
75 Questions to be answered in 45 minutes, It measures the standard written English and rhetorical skills

Mathematics
60 Questions to be answered in 60 minutes, It measures the mathematical skills students have typically acquired in courses taken up to the beginning of grade 12

Reading

Science
40 Questions to be answered in 35 minutes,Measures the interpretation, analysis, evaluation, reasoning, and problem-solving skills required in the natural sciences.

Optional Writing Test
1 Prompt to be answered in 40 minutes, It measures writing skills emphasized in high school English classes and in entry-level college composition courses.

The Total duration of the entire Test Format is 3 hours 35 minutes

English : The test consists of five essays or passages, each of which is accompanied by a sequence of multiple-choice test questions. Six elements of effective writing are included in the English Test: punctuation, grammar and usage, sentence structure, strategy, organization and style.

Mathematics
: The ACT mathematics test is a 60-questions, 60-minutes test designed to assess the mathematical skills students have typically acquired in courses taken up to the beginning of grade 12.

Reading
: The reading test is a 40-questions, 35-minutes test that measures your reading comprehension. The test questions ask you to derive meaning from several texts by referring to what is explicitly stated and by reasoning to determine implicit meaning.

Science
: The science test is a 40-questions, 35-minutes test that measures the interpretation, analysis, evaluation, reasoning and problem-solving skills required in the natural sciences. You are not permitted to use a calculator on the science test.

Writing
: The writing test is a 40-minutes essay test that measures your writing skills – specifically those writing skills emphasized in high school English classes and in entry-level college composition courses.

Composite score and each test score (English, Mathematics, Reading, Science) range from 1 (low) to 36 (high). The Composite Score is the average of your four test scores, rounded to the nearest whole number. Fractions less than one-half are rounded down; fractions one-half or more are rounded up.

Subscores (Usage/Mechanics, Rhetorical Skills, etc.) are calculated in the same way, but subscores range from 1 (low) to 18 (high). There is no direct, arithmetic relationship between subscores and test scores – this means your subscores do not necessarily add up to test score.
Good Score 30 / 36
